Post-Biodynamic Stillness Touch

"BE STILL AND KNOW I AM"

The above quote, etched on Dr. and Mrs. Sutherland's headstones, ingeniously contain the total map of biodynamic osteopathy in the cranial field.

Any practitioner who commits to Dr. Sutherland's non-doing principle of neutral - BE STILL - can realize I AM at Dynamic Stillness. Realizing I AM fulfills Dr. Sutherland's premise that neutral touch evolves consciousness.

Fifty six years prior to writing the above epitaph, Dr. Sutherland's original cranial impulse would not let him go:

The thought came like a bolt of lightning from the blue 'beveled like the gills of a fish' indicating articular mobility for a respiratory mechanism.

Dr. Sutherland spent fifty years evolving his cranial work when he wrote in 1948:

It has been my endeavor to get as far away from the physical senses as I possibly could, that is, to a point where one begins to experience - to realize 'Be Still and Know.

After you put into practice what Sutherland means by
"BE STILL"
Your Consciousness Will Evolve Without End

In review, Dr. Sutherland's cranial journey began as a pre-biodynamic medical approach to touch called biomechanical cranial. However, because he wanted to continuously evolve cranial, Sutherland experimented with helmets on himself and discovered the cranial rhythmic impulse (CRI). The CRI became Sutherland's guiding principle for his functional cranial work. This medical approach is also a pre-biodynamic cranial practice. At this point in his cranial evolution, Sutherland explored a medical touch guided by the CRI, which is now called the cranial wave.

After decades of practicing and teaching functional cranial work, Sutherland moved from the mid-west to Pacific Grove, California. His house was on the ocean in an area called Point Pinos that had a lighthouse. This is where Sutherland first sensed the fluid tide - in his body and in the atmosphere around him. He coined fluid tide as the first biodynamic expression of Primary Respiration that emanates from a biodynamic neutral.

Sutherland's biodynamic practice was born in the 1940's which blossomed until his death in 1957.

During the final stage of his journey, Sutherland abandoned all medical practices after he entered the biodynamic domains, which is a non-medical realm of consciousness that is realized through the neutral.

In the biodynamic neutral, Sutherland realized that the unerring potency heals when the cranial practitioner can Be Still, and is not the doer.

Once he ceased being the doer, Sutherland observed that in neutral the unerring potency took charge of the session, which opened him to the Breath of Life, a spiritual domain that exhibited a living breathing consciousness that possesses an Intelligence. Again, the first biodynamic expression, the fluid tide, possesses an unerring potency that permeates the body's cells and it pervades the atmosphere around us.

According to Sutherland, the unerring potency expresses the primary respiration of the Breath of Life. The Breath of Life emanates the essential biodynamic expressions that, as his understanding evolved, expanded his consciousness from the fluid realm to what Becker called the 'long tide' - a vast luminous domain of consciousness, and into I AM, or Dynamic Stillness, which Becker coined. (For more details, see Chapters 5-9 of the book Stillness.

Even though Sutherland's journey evolved all three major types of cranial practice, he was steeped in deep humility. Dr. Sutherland said of his cranial concept

"It is not mine. It has never been.

After his death, his protégé Dr. Rollin Becker continued to evolve Dr. Sutherland's non-medical, non-doing, biodynamic principles. Becker coined biodynamics, a term he borrowed from Embryologist Blechschmidt, and he taught that a biodynamic practice begins in the neutral, which he defined as whole body stillness. The neutral opens the practitioner to the state of consciousness that Sutherland called "BE STILL" that gradually deepens, which leads us to realize or know I AM.

BE STILL means we maintain a non-efferent state of consciousness. A non-medical disposition is required to realize the neural, the tides, and the non-tidal domain of Dynamic Stillness, which with continued practice, lead us to a post-biodynamic domain of consciousness called Pure Breath of Love.

In his book Life In Motion (1997 Rudra Press), Becker established the term biodynamic, and he sensually characterized the inner qualities of the neutral, fluid tide, long tide, and he introduced a non-tidal domain of infinite consciousness called Dynamic Stillness, which is Sutherland's I AM.

Dynamic Stillness is a translation of Spanda, a term derived from Becker's tantric practice of Kashmir Shaivism, which he kept private.

However, Becker's spiritual teacher Swami Chetananda authored a 2-Volume book, Dynamic Stillness that deeply influenced Becker's biodynamic principles. The Swami dedicated his two books to Becker.

Becker and his wife's ashes are under the Mobius Strip sculpture in the ashram garden in Portland, Oregon.

Review: Becker's definition of the biodynamic neutral as a whole-body stillness is the fulcrum for realizing fluid tide. Then, as the neutral evolves and deepens, stillness expands our consciousness to the edge of the horizon (the limits of our known) into the luminous domains of long tide. The long tide then escorts our consciousness on an ascending journey into a non-tidal domain of infinite consciousness that is called Dynamic Stillness - I AM.

At the realization of I AMthe ego dissolves as a separate self and merges with the infinite consciousness of The All.

Realizing Dynamic Stillness, thus, frees your consciousness from the narcissistic ego complexes while the body reunites with infinite consciousness. Here, the body becomes Whole at infinity, and we realize that the body is consciousness at I AM:

BE STILL AND KNOW I AM

When the ascending tides dissolve in the infinite potency of I AM all that remains is Pure Consciousness.

Realizing I AM is THE FULCRUM for our Second Birth
IF we choose it.

Here, if we choose to surrender ego control and we let go into our inner infinity - THE FULCRUM at I AM - our consciousness will descend and implode into our cells.

Here - at enfleshment - we start an endless post-biodynamic non-tidal Grail Journey.

We can then sense our heart's SA Node pulsing Pure Breath of Love with every heart beat.

The realization of an all-cell Sacred Pulse is the fulcrum where biodynamic becomes post-biodynamic:

BE STILL AND KNOW I AM

BE STILL AND KNOW I AM LOVE

Amid descent, and after the cellular implosion of consciousness, a sacred pulse emanates the Spanda, or Pure Breath of Love
that re-unites your Body with Consciousness, and Love.

Body As Love

Again, although he kept it private, it was Becker's tantric spiritual practice of Kashmir Shaivism that informed his biodynamic practice and teachings. This is a descending spiritual current practice to realize the Spanda that pulses in all the body's cells and throughout the universe

Becker did not teach, write, or mention his tantric Kashmir Shaivism due to the politics of organized American medical osteopathy. Jacques Duvall, French osteopath and Becker protégé, sought to deepen Becker's spiritual impulse by introducing to the French DO's the ancient Vedic spiritual principles and practices.

Meanwhile, Sutherland's student Anne Wales and Becker's student James Jealous formed the New England Cranial Study Group. The group developed the elegant osteopathic map of biodynamics. The New England Study Group crafted precise official osteopathic terms, definitions, and boundaries that they coined as "Biodynamic Osteopathy in the Cranial Field."

The groups' elegant osteopathic map compared and contrasted biomechanical and functional pre-biodynamic approaches with a biodynamic cranial practice (See Chapter 4-9 in Stillness).

James Jealous spread the New England Groups' biodynamic map worldwide to osteopaths, until his unexpected death in February 2021. Just before the end of his life, Jealous had became aware of Pure Breath of Love, which he spoke about in the ninth phase of his biodynamic trainings, and in private classes.

However, the French osteopaths who completed Jealous' nine-phase biodynamic training talk openly about the Black Magma Love as an expression of Pure Breath of Love. (See Chapter 9 in Stillness and Chapter 9 Stillness Touch).

Amid our utter surrender of ego's control at I AM, the ego and Superego cease being separate selves
and our infinite consciousness takes over to release the ego's control over the nervous system and the body.

Pure Breath of Love frees the spirit and we realize our second birth into love.

REVIEW: The New England study groups' precise definition of a biodynamic neutral: when stillness fills the whole body.

Neutral emerges when the presence of stillness, as potency expands from the midline to a whole body stillness. Then, consciousness can expand to the horizon and finally into the infinity of Dynamic Stillness that becomes THE Fulcrum, which frees the spirit from the narcissistic ego and Superego.

After realizing neutral, as a whole-body stillness, the tides emerge within to gradually escort our consciousness on an ascending current journey to the unerring potency of Dynamic Stillness as I AM.

Recall that Dr. Sutherland said his ever-evolving impulse did not belong to him, even though it felt like a bolt of lightning 123 years ago.

Sutherland's living Spirit will inspire anyone who is dedicated to evolving his non-doing principle of BE STILL.
